WHO WE ARE

Dr. Fetfatsidis founded NextGen Materials & Processing LLC in November 2017, recognizing the need to work closely with early stage startups and universities across the country to help scale, transition, and commercialize potentially transformative, game changing material and process technologies. Prior to founding NextGen M&P, Dr. Fetfatsidis spent nearly six years with Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation (A Boeing Company), starting off as a Composite Structures Research Engineer before leading the company’s Aerostructures Business Development activity, and eventually leading the company’s advanced manufacturing R&D efforts.

Dr. Fetfatsidis has published several papers related to advanced composite materials, manufacturing processes, test methods, and analytical model development while working on industry and government-funded/collaborative projects. He has designed and developed various test methods for characterizing the mechanical behavior of various composite materials. He has also developed finite element simulations used to predict the formation of defects during composites manufacturing processes, and the subsequent effect of those defects on structural performance including damage initiation and propagation.

In 2018, Dr. Fetfatsidis founded Make Composites, inc. to make automated manufacture of small, complex, structural end-use parts using commercially available thermoplastic unidirectional (continuous) fiber prepreg tapes more accessible. In developing the Fiber 3D printing system, Dr. Fetfatsidis pioneered μAFP - a desktop-size, plug-and-play solution enabling users of all levels of experience to print high-performance thermoplastic composite parts with only a few clicks of a button. The technology and company was later sold to Desktop Metal, where Dr. Fetfatsidis led all Composites Products as Vice President.
